Teacher & Coach
Stacy attended Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She later went on to Iowa State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Since graduating from Iowa State, she has obtained her Masters in Education from Viterbo University.
She started dancing at the age of 4 where her dance foundation was built on ballet. She has also been trained in Jazz, Lyrical, Pom, and Hip Hop. Stacy was a teacher assistant at her home studio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and was on the national qualifying division 1 college dance team at Iowa State University.
Stacy has been teaching dance and coaching since 2003. She was the assistant coach at Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa where she choreographed State Championship routines and took first runner up at the NDA National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida. Stacy is also a coach and founding member of the Iowa C.A.T.S. All Star Dance Team where she has coached her teams to local, regional and national awards along with specialty awards including best crowd appeal, innovative choreography, and many others.
She also currently teaches first grade in the Southeast Polk Community School District. Stacy lives in Waukee with her husband Toby and their son Brayden and daughters Julia and Eliana.
Stacy continues her dance education by taking workshop and technique classes from famous dancers and choreographers such as Bonnie Taylor, Michael Schwardts and Mandy Moore. She teaches Ballet and Technique classes.
The growth of Iowa C.A.T.S. Dance Company is successful today due to the incredible instruction staff. The teachers and coaching staff bring technical experience and cutting edge choreography to all of the students. We are not only about growing the dancer technically but also investing in the lives of your dancer. The ICDC staff have traveled to New York for the Dance Teacher Summit for continued technical training and teacher certifications, and will continue such programs indefinitely.
Anna Moon began her dance education in Des Moines, Iowa under the instruction of Nancy Overturff and Iowa Dance Theater. Following high school, Anna studied professionally on scholarship with Giordano Dance Chicago. After being accepted to Point Park University, and the University of Arizona as dance majors, she decided to jump directly into the professional dance scene of Chicago.
Anna has extensive experience as a professional performer, dance educator, choreographer, and adjudicator. Professionally, she has studied with such companies and names as Richard Smith of Inaside Chicago Dance, Ronn Stewart of CoCoDaCo Dance Project, Nick Pupillo of Visceral Dance Chicago, Chloe Jensen of Aerial Dance Chicago as well as Homer Bryant, Laura Wade, Francisco Avina, and many other talented artists.
Anna has many years of experience in teaching a wide variety of dance genres. Her students have been accepted into many prestigious programs and her award winning choreography has been performed throughout the country.
As the director of a ballet program in Chicago; She produced and directed a full length annual Nutcracker in addition to developing and implementing a ballet curriculum for all levels with an emphasis on strength in technical abilities and the safety of growing bone structures within youth.
Anna utilizes her degree in education, and her professional experience to help students expand their artistic knowledge and nurture their growing passion for dance.
Teacher & Coach
Emily is an Iowa native who's love for dance has lead to a life long passion which is now manifested in her teaching. She started dancing at age three with Van Cleve Dance Studio where her love for dance grew and prospered. Emily began her competitive career when she joined the competition team at age eight. When Emily entered high school attending Dowling Catholic, she joined the dance team, and danced with them for all four years. When Emily was a senior in high school the Iowa CATS were formed by Kelly Else. Emily joined the Iowa CATS her senior year and later on the International Open team during her first two years of college.
Emily is currently a BSN nursing student at Grand View University. She and her husband Tyler live in Des Moines with their dog Madi. They enjoy biking and spending time with family and friends. Emily teaches all genres at DDC.
Aaron Choi is a dancer, choreographer, and a teacher that specializes in hiphop/contemporary fusion.
He started dancing his senior year of high-school and continues to train in all styles in order to become a well rounded dancer.
During his competition season he won multiple titles such as Dance of The Year at Hollywood vibe (Iowa), Breakout artist at Nuvo ( Kansas City ), Mr.Dance at DMA and much more.
Aaron continues to train in different companies such as Ipush, Rebelcity, and the Bridge Training Program in order to exceed his own expectations.
He is so excited to be able to teach at ICDC and looks forward to working with the students!
